Excursions v Self Tours

At many ports of call it can be both a cheaper option and also more interesting to hire a local taxi to take you to the sights. Join up with another couple you have met on board and you'll possibly find that the four of you will pay only a fraction of an organised excursion cost by jumping in a local taxi. Plus you can learn more about the area from a 'local' who actually lives there! But be careful - negotiate a fare before you set off and be sure to tell the taxi driver where you want to go and when you want to get back.

Although exploring on your own is a great alternative, it is not recommended in every port of call - if you are unsure, ask us!
