Pets
Pets aren't allowed aboard cruise ships, EXCEPT scheduled transatlantic services of QE2, which has 16 air-conditioned kennels & cat containers, plus several cages for birds. Bookings have to be made in advance.
 
 
Photographs
Professional photographers travel onboard and take pictures of passengers throughout their cruise. This includes their arrival, main events and social functions, such as the captain's cocktail party. Photos are then available for purchase.
 
 
Port
The left-hand side of a ship when forward facing. A port is also where your ship visits.
 
 
Port Taxes
The charge levied by the port authorities for a cruise ship to dock at its port. Some cruise lines include these in your cruise fare, others charge separately at the time of booking.
 
 
Ports of Call
Before you disembark at each port, the cruise director will hold a port briefing to let you know what there is to do when you get off. You'll be informed about places to visit and safety, although you may wish to stay with the organised shore excursions.
 
 
Postcards & Writing Paper
These are available from the writing room, library, purser's office, or your room steward. Aboard many ships, they are available for a small charge.

Purser's Office
Also known as reception office, guest relations or information desk. Centrally located, this is the nerve centre of the ship for general onboard information or problems. Opening hours are posted outside the office and given in the Daily Programme.
 
 
Passport

A valid passport is essential for any kind of travel.
